Welcome to Sketchbook Brewing Company, a Community-Supported Brewery which opened to the public on November 21, 2014. Located in Evanston, Illinois, Sketchbook creates a common culture among local craft beer enthusiasts. We began small and hyper-local back in 2014, selling beer out of our alley. As we approach our 3rd year, we are expanding our distribution and production.
One thing that distinguishes Sketchbook is our business model. Check HERE for more details about our Community-Supported Brewery PROGRAM.
Sketchbook Brewing Company is the brainchild of two home-brew heroes, Shawn Decker & Cesar Marron, who met through Evanston’s Homebrew Club – a mighty throng of beer enthusiasts. Cesar’s brewing skills have earned him a dozen medals, and he was the Samuel Adams Longshot American Homebrew Contest 2013 winner: his grätzer was selected from over 1,000 entries nationwide. Shawn brings a solid home-brewing practice to the partnership and decades of experience as a musician, artist, and teacher working on big projects where quality was important.
Recipe swapping and mutual appreciation accelerated into partnership when Shawn and Cesar realized they shared a passion to bring the first CSB (Community Supported Brewery) to their hometown on the shores of Lake Michigan, just north of Chicago. They've enlisted a range of talent: Sketchbook Brewing Company's co-founders include Sean Curry, Mike Ensdorf and Kathy Pilat, Matt and Tara Kosloski, and Ted Perez.
We opened our Tap Room in April of 2016 at 821 Chicago Ave. in spring of 2016, and this intimate space has become a favorite with locals and beer connoisseurs.
We believe in community and support community. Every holiday season, we donate a percentage of of our retail beer sales during the month of December to the Evanston Community Foundation.
