SKETCHBOOK BREWING ANNOUNCES TWO BEER COLLABS:

BEER FOR THE SOUL & FREEDOMISH 2022

SKOKIE & EVANSTON, IL (MAY 13, 2022) – Sketchbook Brewing is proud to announce two collaborations due for release in May and June of 2022. "Teaming up with local businesses and nonprofits makes good sense--and good beer," says Cesar Marron, Head Brewer and Managing Partner for Sketchbook Brewing.  "Both of these new releases also promote and support black-owned businesses and social justice initiatives." To learn about past Sketchbook collabs go here.

BEER FOR THE SOUL is a collaboration with Evanston-based Soul & Smoke, a quickly growing black-owned and women-led business, which regularly dishes out their delicious barbeque at Sketchbook's Skokie location. Soul & Smoke brought in another partner: Chicago's booming Time Out Market, which will have Beer for the Soul on tap.  This Belgian Pale Ale is delicately hopped and refreshing. Fruit and spice notes complement that signature Soul & Smoke sauce. The beer will be released on May 21st at both of Sketchbook's locations (Evanston and Skokie), Soul and Smoke locations, and at Time Out. "We are really excited about this collaboration with Sketchbook. It's the best when we can partner with other businesses in the Evanston community” says Chef D’Andre Carter. “When we started talking with Sketchbook about this collaboration, our goal was to create a beer that perfectly pairs with our barbecue for the ultimate comfort pairing. Sketchbook has developed a beer that perfectly complements our food and is delicious and enjoyable on its own."

FREEDOMISH 2022: Pathways to Liberation represents the second year Sketchbook has teamed up with the Skokie Park District and Skokie United.  The beer this year--brewed in partnership with Jay Westbrook (aka Black Beer Baron)--is a Saison brewed with hibiscus, strawberry and lime, due to be released in early June. Jay says “BBB has always been deeply motivated by the opportunity to educate the community, both in craft beer and in life itself. The Freedomish Series provides this opportunity by giving the man known as the Black Beer Baron a chance to simultaneously appreciate his own culture and heritage, and acknowledging that there is an exceptional amount of work left to be done to achieve true equality and freedom."

Two special aspects of this collab:

*Sketchbook Skokie will be hosting a community concert on Friday, June 17th, following opening ceremonies for Skokie’s Juneteenth weekend. This free concert features jazz trumpeter Corey Wilkes and Ensemble, and is made possible through the support of the Skokie Park District.  Food by Soul & Smoke.

*100% of profits from taproom sales of FREEDOMISH 2022 will be donated to Skokie United and the City of Evanston's Reparations Fund
